Hi guys and gals and welcome to my blog, The Aurora Gamer. In this blog, in addition to articles that are related to my personal gaming experiences I will also be writing about the games I have played or currently playing on my trusted computer nicknamed Aurora. Ever since I built my PC in 2013, I have been collecting and playing games during my free time, most of them I have bought from Steam. I will be using this blog to share my passion for gaming with my fellow gamers and also to share tips, tricks and walkthroughs about the games. I came across this idea of blogging about games a couple of months ago when I was having dinner with a friend and we were discussing about our respective hobbies and how to take full advantage of them. It was he who gave me the idea of doing something useful about my passion for gaming by sharing it with the world and thus, this blog is born. Before we proceed, let me tell you a little bit about myself, Aurora and this blog:
My name is Shaun and I am your average guy who loves gaming. From my schooldays I am always interested in the world of gaming with my first gaming console being the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). From there, I have been gaming on Playstations 2, 3 and 4 with my first exposure to PC gaming coming in 2000 when my dad bought a home PC. So I guess you can say that I am a late bloomer in the PC gaming scene. Back then, I was mostly into racing and sports games such as Need for Speed and FIFA with little to no exposure to other game genres. Since then, I have been playing action adventure games such as the Assassin’s Creed and Tomb Raider series, city building simulation games such as Cities: Skyline, fighting games like Street Fighter, MMORPGs and MOBAs such as Dragon Age and DotA respectively. I am by no means an above average or a top gamer since I only game for entertainment; nothing serious. Even so, I am passionate about gaming and I wish to share my passion with you all.
The Blogger’s PC
Next, allow me to introduce you to my trusted companion, my source of entertainment, my beloved computer, Aurora. She is a custom-built PC that can handle even the most demanding games. Up till today, I have never once encountered any serious problems with my PC. She is currently running on 64-bit Windows 10 operating system that was installed on a solid state drive to ensure super-fast performance. Here are the rest of the parts I picked to build Aurora together with their Amazon product links :
- Processor – AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Amazon
- Graphics Card – AMD R9 280X Direct CU II Amazon
- Motherboard – ASUS M5A99X Evo Amazon
- Storage – Kingston 120GB HyperX SSD Amazon & Western Digital 1TB HDD Blue Amazon
- RAM – Kingston HyperX 8GB & 4GB Amazon
- PSU – Corsair CX750M Amazon
- Cooling – Corsair H100i Amazon
- Casing – CoolerMaster CM Storm Trooper Amazon
- Monitor – BenQ GL2450H Amazon
- KB + M – CM Storm Devastator Gaming Combo Amazon
All these parts allow me to have a seamless gaming experience at a steady 60 framerate per second at 1080p on most games. There are no plans to upgrade any parts as of yet since my PC is only 2 years old but on the event of any upgrades you will be the first to know right here.
And finally, the blog itself. I wanted to use a simple and minimalistic light theme for this blog so that it would be attractive and easy on the readers’ eyes. At the time of the blog’s conception, I was deliberating between free and paid hosting. In the end, I settled for paid hosting because I want my blog to have a professional feel about it. After going through various hosting services, I have settled on SiteGround. The main reason why I choose SiteGround is because of its affordability, phenomenal customer support and easy WordPress setup. Since I am using WordPress for my blog, SG is my go-to hosting service because it includes easy-to-install WP services and tutorials that are easy to understand. If you are interested in creating your own website, give SiteGround a look. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. FYI, the basic StartUp plan is $3.95/month.
Now that we got that out of the way, please proceed to my blog posts by clicking on the link labelled ‘Blog’ at the top-right side of the page. Thank you for dropping by and I hope that you will enjoy reading my posts.
